23 Feb 11 - WI number 2 and the evilness of donuts!

Last night was my 2nd WI and I lost 1.5lbs. It's my TOTM so was prepared for a low loss but still secretly hoped for more - don't we all!  Just shows that PP works though.  I kept within my point all week but ate a lot more than in my first week, including 2 McDonald's and a bottle of wine!  Oh and a huge packet of crisps!  Just shows you can still enjoy life whilst on a a diet!

Coffee morning at work today so thought I'd treat myself to a donut.  I admit I hadn't checked the points value before as I don't have my book with me but thought I remembered seeing that a jam donut was 7pp.  But checked online after and they're 9pp each! Nine?!  That's ridiculous, last time I do that!  Stupid thing was I've got loads of WW treats in my desk which I could have had instead! What a waste. Oh well, we live and learn.

I've been meaning to go to the gym for the past 2 nights but been feeling tired and crap but really must go tonight.  I actually really enjoy it once I'm there, it's just the initial getting off my ar5e I struggle with!

Really should get back to work now, I've actually got loads to do this week as well as an OU assignment due in on Sat! Stressed!

17 Feb 11 - The joys of spring?

Yesterday, I thought spring had sprung, it was sunny and warm and the crocuses were blooming! Today it's back to the cold, damp greyness that is England!

I had yesterday afternoon off to join the gym and loved it! I did 20 mins on the cross trainer and then 10 lengths in the pool, which I had to myself for most of the time!  I then wallowed in the jacuzzi for at least 15 mins - I was imagining that the bubbles were literally beating the fat out of me! And I finished off in the sauna!  So all in all a very nice afternoon.  It felt great to be able to do some exercise and then have some relaxing 'me' time and I came away feeling great!  I'll be very happy if I can do that a couple of times a week, just a shame works here to get in the way!

For dinner last night I decided to do a chicken pasta bake.  I haven't used pasta since starting WW and was shocked how little pasta you get for the points.  4pp gets you 40g of pasta and that really looks a pathetic amount.  Anyway, once I got over my initial shock, I got on with cooking and added loads of veg to the sauce to bulk it out and ended up with a huge, delicious and really filling dinner.  So maybe WW do know what they're talking about afterall!  Yesterday was the first day I used all my points up too :-)

I've just eaten a box of WW mint humbugs in about 10 mins and now feel very sick! But they're just so moorish!

Just remembered, last night when I was looking at our money situation for next month (I like to plan ahead!) my DH said he needed about £100 more than usual as he was getting me a suprise! How exciting!  At first I thought it might be a Kindle but then he mentioned going to John Lewis to get it and you can only get Kindle's from amazon I think.  He hinted that it would save space! Huh?  Trouble is, he's awful at keeping secrets and he's bound to tell me before I actually get it.  He also said he was worried I might not like it! Really confused now, but excited too! I'll let you know what it turns out to be x

16 Feb 11 - Weigh-In Number One!

So the moment of truth arrived and .....(drum roll please)....4.5lbs down! Yay!

Very pleased with that! Good start! I found this week fairly easy.  One of my main problems was (ironically) not eating enough!  So better planning this week for breakfasts and lunches so I don't end up with loads of points left in the evening which I then use on crap!

I'm off to join the gym this afternoon! (please pick yourself up off the floor!)  I think I may have finally found the Gym for me.  It's part of the Spirit Health Club chain and it is in the local Holiday Inn.  There's a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and tiny gym and I get unlimited use for £25.20 per month!  Plus as DD is only 3, I can take her swimming free of charge, so even better.  I have been using the gym at work but I can only go at lunch time and then it eats into my flexi.  This way I can go 2 or 3 evenings a week, have a workout, a swim and the a sauna - bliss!  My little escape, I'll finally have a little bit of time to myself.  DH is very supportive of this and is quite happy for me to go, I think he realises I need a bit of 'me' time!  I'll let you know how my first trip goes tomorrow.

15 Feb 11 - First WI tonight :-\

So I've got my first WI tonight, I'm surprisingly nervous!  I been good all week but still worried I'll have lost nothing!  Ia am slightly concerned that I haven't eaten enough actually because on several days I haven't used all my dailys and I didn't touch my weeklies.  You'd think that would be a good thing but I've read on the WW forum that not eating enough can prevent weight loss!

I'm still struggling with breakfast.  I just don't want it at home.  I need to find something I can eat at work that's quick and easy but also filling.  What about if I cook some low fat sausages and maybe some boiled eggs?  That way I could have a high protein breakfast without actually having to do anything!  That sound's like a possible way forward!

13 Feb 11 - Mcdonalds!

I had a Big Mac for lunch today! You wouldn't have thought that would be allowed on a diet would you? But it was 13pp so well within my limit - how great is that?!  I was very restrained and didn't have any fries but actually found that I didn't need them, the burger was enough.  So as long as I end up loosing something come weigh-in on Tues, I can confidently say I love this diet!

10 Feb 11 - I survived day 1!

Well, yesterday went well, my first day on the WW Pro Points plan.  I was very good, measured everything and resisted temptations!  I measured my rice for dinner and thought "Is that all I get?", it looked a pathetic amount but as it turned out, it was enough. I felt satisfied after so it just goes to show how much I've been stuffing myself before.  I actually struggled to eat all my daily allowance of PP, something that was emphasised at the meeting was that all dailies MUST be eaten but at the moment I'm on 44 a day so actually seem to be eating more then I did previously - it's just that what I'm eating is healthier now!  Fingers crossed it works!

I also made some delicious butternut squash soup last night and it's zero pp!  I chopped up a huge BNS (with skin left on), and a large red onion and roasted them with loads of garlic (crushed but with skins still on).  I also threw in some fresh thyme and salt and pepper.  Once soft, I squeezed the garlic out of their skins and then whizzed everything up.  I then added some veg stock to loosen it a bit but it's made a lovely thick soup.  And so tasty, I can't wait for lunch today!  I'm off to the gym at lunch so will really appreciate my soup after!

I took my measurements today.  Lots of people said this was a good way to keep track of changes.  Particularly if I have a small or (god forbid) no loss on the scales, I may well loose inches so it's a good motivator.

I've got a bottle of pink bubbly to have on Monday night, not only is it valentines day but it will also be 8 years since I met my hubby!  I've worked the bottle out to be 20pp - well worth it! Not sure what we'll be eating but the important part's sorted at least!

09 Feb 11 - WW here I come!

So I went to my first WW meeting last night!  My official starting weight is 20st 4lbs! Yikes! Oh well, onwards and downwards.  The leader seems really nice and am feeling quite motivated at the moment, only problem is that I think this week will be my TOTM which usually affects weight loss negatively so not a great week to start on.  But I suppose it'll catch up next week.  I've been good so far, rather than going to coffee morning with the temptation of cakes I took the dog for a walk and I'm going shopping this afternoon to stock up on fruit and veg.  I bought a WW recipe book at the meeting last night so hopefully I'll be trying some new meals in the next couple of weeks.  Our meals do tend to get very repetitive so need new stuff to try.

I also need to sort out my breakfasts.  I'm really not a breakfast eater but really need to start.  I got some WW peanut bars thinking I could have that but they're not enough so must think about what I can have that's quick and easy.

I really need to start my training so I'm going to map some routes out that I can do at lunchtime. It's the only time I really have other than after dark or weekends.  I know once I'm walking further I'll have to start at weekends but I really don't want to be walking in the dark!  Although I suppose it's something I'm going to have to get used to as the walk itself is at night!  Mind you I don't think it ever gets dark in London!

02 Feb 11 - Minor Victory!

It's coffee morning day today at work but I resisted and had an orange instead!  Check me out, it isn't often I turn down a donut! Not much else to report I'm afraid, I've got an ear infection which isn't helping my motivation to be good and my DH is away too.

Actually, that reminds me of another victory - usually when DH is away I don't bother cooking proper meals for myself and eat crap but last night I made myself baked salmon, boiled pots and mange tout! It was really tasty and so healthy!
